Brick Defence

Brick Defence, typically refers to how flood & excess rain or sewage water can enter through the properties walls.

Existing airbricks are the biggest culprit, usually designed to allow airflow beneath suspended floors or in wall cavities, they sit at a low-level, & can let in up to 500 litres per minute of water!

There are other considerations: Weep vents, cracks or gaps in brickwork or weather mortar/pointing. Take a look below at how you can improve your properties brick defence.

The M3 Anti-Flood Airbrick

Available in 5 standard colours, the M3 Anti-flood Airbrick is the world’s first BSI Kitemark certified airbrick to protect against flooding. (PAS 1188-1:2014)

It is the most efficient and effective airbrick replacement on the market. Its superior design is passive and it is self-activated by only one moving part. Designed to replace a standard airbrick it allows air to freely pass through complying with BS493:1995, but under flood conditions its self-activating gate will automatically shut off.

At just Β£28.89 plus VAT per unit, these products are an incredibly cost-effective solution to mitigation flood damage to your property! See our shop for more info!

Brickwork Protection

Flood water can seep through porous walls, or even flow through cracks, missing cement & holes around pipework. Often this point of ingress is unknown to property owners.

Over the decades, bricks and mortar weathers & can become porous. Replacing these bricks, repointing the porous or broken down mortar, or rendering the wall can all improve the resilience significantly - as can applying sealant to around pipework which exists the building.

Stormdry sealant is also an excellent product, designed to improve the weathering & flood resilience of walls.  This cream like substance must be applied once the wall is clean, dry, & all new cement is fully cured.

One Way Weep Vent

Weep Vents encourage ventilation into a cavity, whilst allowing any excess moisture build up to weep out, defending against mould or damp (often seen above lintels/windows). However, any low-lying weep vents can let flood water IN to the cavity.

The One Way Weep Vent closes off a valve automatically against backflow of water, defending that entry. See more info in our shop!
