A flat roof aerator designed to allow airflow for unventilated spaces beneath, such as cold roof build ups with mineral wool, or concrete slabs - which naturally retain moisture from the construction process.

• Features a series of ribs along the underside of the round base plate (or flange), which encourages the movement of vapour along the base and into the tube (or flue).

• It also acts to alleviate any hot air which might appear between the slab and the membrane, often evidenced by blistering and bubbling of the membrane.

• The top of the pipe or flue has three lateral holes to allow the vapour to escape into the atmosphere.

• It is covered by a hood or cap which overlaps the internal holes, preventing rainwater entering the system but still allowing the passage of vapour.

• 1 Vent per 25m2 where necessary.

For installation on concrete Flat Roof bases:

• Before laying your Elevate EPDM membrane, place your vent(s) in position on the bare concrete.

• Then lay your EPDM or waterproofing membrane in line with the job requirements, & onto the base flange of the vent, whilst allowing 75mm space from the centre for subsequent flashing to provide the seal.

• Next, using your 9 inch or 18 inch Quickseam Form Flash & Quickprime Primer, seal the area - ensuring 75mm overlap onto both the base flange and EPDM with the flashing.

• Use Elevate Lap Sealant to seal edges if required.

For non-concrete bases, such as cold roof build-ups with typical mineral wool insulation.

• Cut a 50mm diameter hole through the base decking into the space beneath (one per 25m2). The lay the membrane as required in the job requirements, then cut the same hole(s) in the EPDM.

• Apply Bond & Seal Sealant to the underside of the base flange & place in position. Mechanically fix as required, towards the edge of the base flange.

• Next, using your 9 inch or 18 inch Quickseam Form Flash & Quickprime Primer, seal the area - ensuring 75mm overlap onto both the base flange and EPDM with the flashing.

• Use Elevate Lap Sealant to seal edges if required.

  • Can the Flat Roof Vent go on top of the EPDM?
The Flat Roof Aerator is designed to be fitted before the EPDM on concrete based, with the EPDM bonded to the based of the vent. This creates a 'flue' allowing the moisture beneath to exit via hidden holes on the vent. For non-concrete bases, the aerator can be housed on top of the EPDM.
  • Why does concrete on a flat roof need ventilation?
All concrete will retain an element of moisture within its mass after the construction process, and it is important that once the roof is waterproofed, this moisture has a way to escape the system, otherwise there is a risk that this retained moisture will build up and possibly bulge out of the top of the structure and cause the waterproof seal to bubble, blister or even burst.
  • How do I seal the EPDM Rubber to the Flat Roof Vent?
Bond the EPDM to the base of the flange, allowing 75mm from the centre for your Quickseam Flashing to have room to bond. Then use your 9 or 18 inch Quickseam Formflash & primer to seal the two areas.

To summarise, see below:

Order Processing:

Orders for Flat Roofing Items placed before 12pm midday, are generally processed for dispatch the same day. Orders placed after midday will be processed next day. Delivery:

After dispatch, your order will generally be delivered the next working day. Do note, if you order other roofing trims with your items, these may be delivered separately due to the length of the trims & courier service guidelines.

The delivery of your items will be carefully packaged, signed off, & will be delivered via a courtier network. We strongly advise being present for delivery to inspect your products & sign delivery notes. Additionally, not all courier service trucks have tail lifts, or pallet trolleys. Please be prepared with the necessary person(s) to take delivery of your items, necessary for the size of the order. Depending on the size of items ordered, they may be heavy - use proper lifting technique, we cannot be held liable for any personal injury resulting from the delivery or use of the ordered items.

Notes on the delivery of Elevate EPDM:

If you order EPDM with your items, the rubber will be delivered rolled up for ease of transport. As a result there may be some fold creases and wrinkles - this is normal. To remedy this, the EPDM should be laid to rest, or settle, for a minimum of 1 hour. In colder temperatures, the light use of a heat gun (not a naked flame) can be used to settle the rubber. Don't overheat or touch directly.

Starting your project:

We advise not booking in or arranging an installation team to begin works before the goods have been delivered & inspected. Delays or order mistakes are rare, but can happen. We can't be liable for any costs as a result from delayed or incorrect delivery or items.
