Storage:

• Store in original containers at temperatures between 15-25 degrees. Keep from freezing. Follow the manufacturer guidelines.

Precautions:

• May cause mild transient eye irritation. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. In case of contact, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water and seek medical advice. If consumed, seek immediate medical attention. Keep container closed when not in use. Keep out of the reach of children.

• The application of Elevate contact spray adhesive is used for bonding EPDM to other surfaces, verticals, & around the detailing and edges of flat roofing installations

• Correct preparation of the mating surface and application of the adhesive is important, to ensure the best performance from your project, over the duration of its long-expected lifespan. Bonding surfaces must be clean, dry, smooth, free of sharp edges, loose and foreign materials. Sweep clean and use a suitable cleaning method to remove oil or grease stains and any other contaminants.

More information can be found in the installation guides, but to summarise:

• Contact spray adhesive should be applied to both the membrane and the mating surface. Work in sections and keep the aerosol can as upright as you can. Spray consistently from side to side, evenly covering the section you are working on without pooling.

• Wait for both the membrane and roof deck to go tacky before mating together for the best results. To ensure proper adhesion, compress the bonded portion of the sheet to the substrate with a stiff broom or roofing roller.

Note: When working around roof edges, it can be useful to use a scrap piece of material to block accidental spray blowing off the roof.

  • Are there different sizes of bonding spray?
There is only the 0.75L cans. However, there are liquid forms (not aerosol) available in tubs which you apply with a roller. These are available in 2.5L, 5L & 10L variations.
  • How do I know when then adhesive is ready to stick the rubber to the surface?
Complete what is called a 'touch-test'. When you touch the adhesive on the EPDM and/or the mating surface, it should be tacky & not pull away from the surface. This means it is still too liquified & needs to cure longer. This varies in different temperatures.
  • What happens if I lay the membrane wrong with the bonding adhesive?
Mistakes and bubbles are harder to correct with a bonding adhesive, as it's a stronger bond than the waterbased deck adhesive. If you need to pull the EPDM back to relay, you will need to reapply some adhesive, as will have lost some of it's performance.
  • Can bonding adhesive be used instead of waterbased adhesive?
Yes. Bonding adhesive is generally more suited if there it is a large commercial project, in line with Elevate Rubbergard, or a steeped pitch to the roof, such as a shed roof. This is because it cures much quicker & with a stronger bond. If the temperature is to drop below 5 degrees (but not freezing), then the bonding adhesive can provide a better long-term finish. If the above reasons don't apply, then waterbased deck adhesive should be the preferred method, provided the EPDM is being bonded to a timber base.

We strongly advise reading our Deliveries & Returns information, to fully understand the delivery of your item(s).

To summarise, see below:

Order Processing:

Orders for Flat Roofing Items placed before 12pm midday, are generally processed for dispatch the same day. Orders placed after midday will be processed next day. Orders placed on bank holidays or weekends will be processed the next working day. A member of our team will update you via the contact information provided.

Delivery:

After dispatch, your order will generally be delivered the next working day. Do note, if you order other roofing trims with your items, these may be delivered separately due to the length of the trims & courier service guidelines.

The delivery of your items will be carefully packaged (particularly liquids), signed off, & will be delivered via a courtier network. We strongly advise being present for delivery to inspect your products, check liquids, & sign delivery notes. Additionally, not all courier service trucks have tail lifts, or pallet trolleys. Please be prepared with the necessary person(s) to take delivery of your items, necessary for the size of the order. Depending on the size of items ordered, they may be heavy - use proper lifting technique, we cannot be held liable for any personal injury resulting from the delivery or use of the ordered items.

Notes on the delivery of Elevate EPDM:

If you order EPDM with your items, the rubber will be delivered rolled up for ease of transport. As a result there may be some fold creases and wrinkles - this is normal. To remedy this, the EPDM should be laid to rest, or settle, for a minimum of 1 hour. In colder temperatures, the light use of a heat gun (not a naked flame) can be used to settle the rubber. Don't overheat or touch directly.

Starting your project:

We advise not booking in or arranging an installation team to begin works before the goods have been delivered & inspected. Delays or order mistakes are rare, but can happen. We can't be liable for any costs as a result from delayed or incorrect delivery or items.
